food shots from 삼거리 포차
How many times have I been to Hongdae? Definitely not enough! Friends always tease me about how I never leave Sinsa, let alone go across the Han river. However, this is really where it's at. If you can dismiss the fact that this area is catered towards the 'younger crowd' since it is afterall near Hongkik University...you might not want to leave! Endless restaurants, bars, bargain shopping, live music, clubs, street vendors, fortune tellers (사주's) and in the summer you'll see musicians performing on the streets every other corner! A bit of a trek for me, but to digest everything, you'll need to make a few trips...
This post is a compilation of 3 different trips, with 3 different groups of friends...but I'm itching to go back to soak up all that Hongdae has to offer...
Friend Rob Joe- a.k.a robot joe, recently introduced me to these amazing lamb scewers @ 소고산 제일루 (soguhsal jaeilu) in 서교동-Seogyodong (pretty much in Hongdae) crazy good Chinese spot...their original jjajangmyun is beyond words...and their '마라면' maramyun (spicy noodles) is absolute killer! This was our 삼차 (third stop of the night) on my birthday, and I was bummed I wasn't too hungry! Definitely going back to try their other scewers!

The night shopping...and the noraebang/karaoke where you can see everyone through the window! hilarious...
Below we went to Cafe Bbang-you can hear live music every night...great indie bands/singer/songwriters. Wednesday night was singer/songwriter night, 12,000 won gets you in with a free drink ticket.
Absolutely love this photo...Bob and John on the train on our way to Hongdae, looking lost...or they seem like they don't know each other. I think they seriously just exchanged 3 words the whole time. Weirdos.
